ABAC Upcoming Meetings & Events
The Arlington Bicycle Advisory Committee meets monthly on the third Wednesday of the month.  We gather in the First Floor Conference Room of the Town Hall Annex at 730 p.m.  Agendas for each month’s meeting can be viewed at here.

March 8 – Winter Social:Arlington Bicycle Winter Social:~

Join the Arlington Bicycle Advisory Committee (ABAC) for the annual indoor Bicycle Winter Social get-together on Thursday, March 8, 7-9 p.m., at the Arlington Center for the Arts, 41 Foster Street,~in East Arlington. ~Light refreshments will be served.
~
This year's ABAC Winter Social will feature brief updates on local bicycling issues with time for socializing. ~Our special guest for the evening will be Dan Driscoll,~Director of Recreation and Facility Planning for the Mass. Dept. of Conservation and Recreation (DCR). ~Dan will speak about DCR's regional and statewide bike and pedestrian initiatives, including the new Alewife Greenway path in East Arlington -- which connects the Mystic River and Alewife Reservation areas. ~Anyone interested in local bicycling and pathway issues is welcome to join us.

Note the new location for the annual ABAC Winter Social: ~Arlington Center for the Arts,~41 Foster St., East Arlington. ~The event will be hosted in ACA's Theater. ~The best way to enter ACA's Theatre is from the facility's parking lot, located between Tuft and Foster Streets. ~From the parking lot, look for~ACA Theater signs to the ramp entrance. ~The facility's bike-parking rack is located near the Foster St. entrance. ~Coming from Mass Ave by car or bike, the best way to access ACA is via Tufts St.

May 20 – Bike Arlington Tour – a casual easy bike ride around town – suitable for all ages; takes about 2 hours; refreshments conclude the ride! BIKE-Arlington Tour planned for Sunday, May 20

The annual BIKE-Arlington Tour is scheduled for Sunday morning, May 20, 2012.  This easy-paced bicycle tour around town is organized by the Arlington Bicycle Advisory Committee (ABAC) in local celebration of National Bicycle Month.

The family-friendly bike tour will travel on both the Minuteman Bikeway and local roadways, including informational stops along the way.  This year's BIKE-Arlington Tour will feature Safe Routes to School (with stops at Thompson and Hardy Schools) as well as the Alewife Brook Greenway path, which is nearly completed in East Arlington.  The bike tour is FREE.  Bicycle helmets are required, and all participants will be responsible for their own safety.  Bring something to drink.  Meet on Sunday, May 20, at 9:30 a.m. in Arlington Center, behind the Jefferson Cutter House in the large municipal parking lot (northeast corner of Mass Ave and Mystic St).  The tour will end before noontime.  Steady rain will cancel the bike tour.

July 21, 24 - ABAC is helping the State to gather data counts on number and diversity of users of the Minuteman Bikeway; the counts will take place on July 21 and July 24, from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.  Volunteers are needed to help.  Please contact Joey Glushko in the Planning Department (781-316-3093 or jglushko@town.arlington.ma.us) to tally users for an hour or two.
