Peirce update, June 7, 2002
The Permanent Town Building Committee (PTBC) heard an update Tuesday, June 4, from Michael Black, construction manager of Castagna, the chief contractor for the Peirce School, which is being rebuilt.

Black told the committee that the first three floors -- for the most part, classrooms -- would be substantially complete by July 15.

Other areas, including the gym and cafetorium, would be substantially complete closer to Aug. 1 and landscaping about Aug. 15.

The committee did not vote on an opening date for the school. Superintendent Kay Donovan has reported previously that she expects the school to open about Oct. 15, but would be happy if it's sooner.

The PTBC walked through the project Monday, June 3.

Providing this information was School Committee member Suzanne  Owayda, new member of the PTBC.

She said she thought significant progress had been made but that these dates were optimistic.
