83% vote in Arlington
Town chooses Gore over Bush, 15,550 to 6,026

Polls were open Tuesday, Nov. 7, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Rules about the town voter list:
State law requires that the town take an annual street listing of residents as of
Jan. 1 of each year. Every household is requested to update the
information on this form from the previous year and add, delete or make
changes to the printed information. They are requested to sign and return
the form within 10 days even if no changes are made. The town clerk's office then enters
these forms into a database.

The only time the town clerk's office can legally remove a voter from the voting list is when
1.) the voter registers to vote in another community;
2.) the voter informs the clerk's office in writing that he or she wishes to be removed;
3.) the voter either returns a confirmation mailing stating that he or she has moved to another
community, or does not return a confirmation mailing AND fails to vote in
the next two state elections after the mailing of confirmation notice or
4.) the voter dies.

If a voter has been deleted from the voting list, or designated as inactive
and appears to vote on Election Day, he or she can vote if the person has
registered to vote in Arlington in the past and affirms in writing,
signed under the penalties of perjury, that he or she has continuously lived
in Arlington. (The clerk's office must check past registration for at least three years).
