Conservation Comm Minutes 12-13-2001
ARLINGTON CONSERVATION COMMISSION
MINUTES

DECEMBER 13, 2001

Mr. Stevens called the meeting to order at 7:30pm in the second floor conference room of the Town Hall Annex.  Present were Nathaniel Stevens, Timothy Sullivan, Judith Hodges, David White, and Christine Wallace of the Commission.  Bill Finnerty of the Poet’s Corner neighborhood was also in attendance.

7:30pm   MISCELLANEOUS –
Sullivan/White motioned to approve the minutes of 12/6/01 (with minor edits); motion passed unanimously.

The procedures for handling docks and the Conservation Lands regulations will be reviewed more and discussed at the next meeting.

The search for new members continues.  No paperwork has been received by the Commission as of this date.

Mr. White contacted Ms. Barron of Metromedia regarding the repairs to the bikepath from the March flood event.   She is requesting another site walk to discuss changing the tasks agreed upon last July.  She’ll schedule this meeting with Mr. Santasuosso, Town Engineer and someone from the Commission.

The Commission is in receipt of a letter from BSC describing changes to the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery project asking whether an amendment to the existing permit is needed for said work.  The Commission decided that this work would need an amendment to the existing permit since the changes are located within the floodplain, buffer zone and riverfront area.

The Commission is working on edits to the Regulations and will probably notice the approval of these changes for the January 17, 2002 hearing.  The changes consist of wetland replication specifications.

The Great Meadows Friends group is going to have an open to the public meeting to garner support sometime in January or February.  The group is seeking to remain autonomous from Town boards (in either Lexington or Arlington).

Ms. Wallace reported on the Spy Pond Committee’s organization of the DEM project.

The Commission is in receipt of the MDC permit for the project at 19 Massachusetts Avenue to have temporary access to the Alewife Reservation for purposes of construction and landscaping.

Ms. Beckwith reported that construction is completed at 78 Summer St.  They will request their Certificate of Compliance at the next meeting.

The Commission voted to convene at approximately 8:50pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Cori Beckwith, Administrator
