ARLINGTON CONSERVATION COMMISSION
MINUTES

AUGUST 22, 2002

Mr. Stevens called the meeting to order at 7:30pm in the second floor conference room of the Town Hall Annex.  Present were Nathaniel Stevens, David White, Timothy Sullivan, Catherine Garnett, Christine Wallace and Judith Hodges of the Commission.   Brian and Heather Sullivan of 43 Dothan St. attended along with representatives Leo Garneau of Northeastern Consulting Forestry Services, John Noonan, and Joshua Fox.

7:30pm   MISCELLANEOUS –
 
White/Hodges motioned to approve the 8/1 minutes; motion passed unanimously, with Mr. Sullivan in abstention due to absence.

Fiscal:  Sullivan/Wallace motioned to pay Aquatic Control Technology, Inc. for harvesting of water chestnuts from the Arlington Reservoir $14880; motion passed unanimously.

8:00pm  43 DOTHAN ST., ABBREVIATED NOTICE OF RESOURCE AREA DELINEATION

Mr. Garneau presented the wetland delineation for the entrance to this single family home.  The unpaved roadway is prone to extensive flooding blocking all access to this house.

Garnett/Sullivan motioned, with the applicants consent, to continue the hearing in order to conduct a site walk on August 24 at 11am, the hearing will continue on September 5 at 8pm; motion passed unanimously.

MISCELLANEOUS, cont.-

The Commission will have a booth at Town Day on September 14, 2002.  

Mr. White and Mr. Stevens gave an update on the Conservation land on Arlmont St..   The site has been cleared of staging debris and construction materials and stones were placed on the lower portion of the land to prevent access by vehicles.  This is also needed on the upper portion of the property.  Ms. Garnett is drafting recommendations for landscaping.

The Land Stewardship handbook is in the final draft and will be mailed to prospective participants.
The Commission scheduled a site walk for August 28, 8:30am along Alewife Brook near Sunnyside Ave in order to confirm information for a letter to Algonquin Gas regarding their permit #91-158.

The Commission voted to convene at approximately 9:15pm.
