ARLINGTON CONSERVATION COMMISSION
MINUTES

JANUARY 16, 2003

Mr. Stevens called the meeting to order at 7:30pm at the second floor conference room of the Town Hall Annex. Present were Nathaniel Stevens, David White, Timothy Sullivan, and Judith Hodges of the Commission. Also present was Ed Koenig, 31 Melrose St and Ellen Mass and Ernie Kirwan of Cambridge.

7:30pm   MISCELLANEOUS –
 
White/Hodges motioned to approve the 12/19/02 minutes with edits; motion passed unanimously.  Sullivan/White motioned to approve the 1/2/03 minutes with edits; motion passed unanimously.

Mr. Kirwan presented information on the Belmont Uplands development project that included aerial photos with the proposed development drawn in by computer.  It was recommended that the newspaper be sent these pictures.  The developers are currently drafting the Draft Environmental Impact Report.   

The Commission edited its article for the 2002 Annual Report  and Ms. Beckwith will submit it to the Manager’s office.

The Cemetery Commission sent a letter to the Conservation Commission regarding the placement of a second bench in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in the conservation easement next to Mill Brook.  Ms. Beckwith asked for a map of the proposed location of the bench.  

Mr. Stevens reported that the Local Emergency Planning Committee is seeking a participant from the Conservation Commission.  Ms. Beckwith said that she would participate in this effort.

The Commission voted to convene at approximately 9:30pm.
