ARLINGTON CONSERVATION COMMISSION
MINUTES
SEPTEMBER 2, 2004
Mr. Stevens called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. in the second floor conference room of the Town Hall Annex. Present were David White, Judith Hodges, Nathaniel Stevens, Ellen Reed and William O’Rourke of the Commission. Timothy Sullivan and Catherine Garnett of the Commission were absent. Also present was Aaron Magil regarding Meadowbrook Park.
7:30 p.m. - COMMISSION BUSINESS
The Commission agreed on a design for Conservation Land signs and directed Ms. Beckwith to submit this to DPW.
Mr. White reported on volunteer projects:
Dan Reed, Eagle Scout, constructed and installed a kiosk in Great Meadows, near the nursing home.
Another project proposed is for a kiosk in Mt. Gilboa , near the Crescent street entrance, for installation in early October. The commission recommended the use of pine boards for back and discussed whether to use plexiglass or not.
Maintenance
The Land Steward group needs a revision /updating of notices.
Mr. Magil reported that his trail work at Meadowbrook Park is complete.. The Commission suggested that a Land Steward organized cleanup in the fall could clean up any remaining items. White/Reed motioned to approve this project; unanimously approved.
The Commission discussed the impending budget problems for the payment of Ms. Beckwith’s salary and the required Town Meeting warrant Article to resolve the matter. The Commission is to appear before the Finance Committee to seek its approval on Wednesday 9/8/04 at 9:30pm
The Commission voted to convene at approximately 10 p.m.
