ARLINGTON CONSERVATION COMMISSION
MINUTES
MARCH 17, 2005
Mr. Stevens called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. in the second floor conference room of the Town Hall Annex. Present were Judith Hodges, Nathaniel Stevens, Ellen Reed, William O’Rourke and David White of the Commission. Timothy Sullivan and Catherine Garnett, of the Commission, were absent.
7:30 p.m. - COMMISSION BUSINESS
White/Reed motioned to approve the 6/17/04, 8/5/04, 9/23/04, 2/3/05, 2/17/05, and 3/3/05 meeting minutes with minor edits; motion passed unanimously.
8:00pm – NOTICE OF INTENT – Removal of pavement at parking lot west of Acorn Park Drive
This hearing was continued from 3/3/05. The Commission has not received the Cambridge Conservation Commission’s Order of Conditions for this project which straddles the town boundaries. The Commission discussed the situation and agreed to use their set of standard conditions, plus one for the date of completion of Dec. 31, 2005, as the applicant agreed.
Reed/Hodges motioned to approve the project as proposed; motion passed unanimously with Mr. O’Rourke in abstention due to absence at the previous meeting.
8:45pm REVISION OF BYLAW REGULATIONS –
White/Reed motioned to continue this hearing to 4/7; motion passed unanimously.
OTHER COMMISSION BUSINESS-
The 3rd Annual Arlington Land Stewards meeting will be held on April 26, at 7 to 9pm at the Fox Library Community Room, 175 Mass Ave, to organize cleanups, compose a “walking book” reprint committee, coordinate with the new Tree committee, share experiences from past seasons of caring for parcels in town, update the stewardship handbook (review new one by Lexington), formulate land use plans, hear a lecture on urban forestry, and compose calendar of activities/events. The Commission will work to get a guest speaker either on Urban Forestry or on tree phrenology.
The Commission voted to convene at approximately 8:30 p.m.
