ARLINGTON CONSERVATION COMMISSION
MINUTES

FEBRUARY 15, 2007

Mr. Stevens, called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. in the second floor conference room of the Town Hall Annex.  Present were David White, Judith Hodges, William O’Rourke, Catherine Garnett, and Chuck Tirone of the Commission.  Ellen Reed and Timothy Sullivan, of the Commission, were not in attendance.  

7:30 pm - COMMISSION BUSINESS

Hodges/White motioned to approve the 1/18 and 2/1 minutes with minor edits; motion passed unanimously.

Mr. White reported on the 5-year update of the Open Space plan this is commencing.  Comments are needed to website.  The highest priority item is open space land acquisition.

Mr. White reported on the progress of the restoration of Cooke’s Hollow.    The RFP is due 2/26.  Mr. White and Mr. O’Rourke will be members of the review committee.

Ms. Garnett reported on the selection of April 9, Monday for the Annual Land Stewards meeting along with the Reservoir Committee in order to hold a Forum on the planting plan for Arlington Reservoir.  

Mr. O’Rourke is working on the bid package for the Reservoir planting plan with the DPW.

Mr. White attended a working group meeting on the proposed trail in the Alewife Reservation.  Also in attendance were Diane Mahon and Clarissa Rowe of the Board of Selectmen.

Mr. Tirone reported on the house project on Spy Pond Parkway, that the siltfence needed repair, the dumpster needed to be covered and the area swept daily.  

Mr. Tirone reported on work at 40-42 Brattle St.  Erosion controls needed to be maintained; there were holes between the haybales, and Gutter Buddies needed emptying, backfill is very high.  

Mr. Tirone reported on the work at Dudley St. Place, that the concrete mixing station was moved and the erosion controls were fixed.  The site personnel were very responsive.

Mr. Stevens reviewed the drafted Enforcement Policy guidelines and discussed the differences between Minor vs. Major violations and the issuance of a Letter of Noncompliance by the Conservation Commission.

The Commission voted to convene at approximately 9 p.m.
