ARLINGTON CONSERVATION COMMISSION
MINUTES
AUGUST 2, 2007
Mr. Stevens called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. in the second floor conference room of the Town Hall Annex. Present were Nathaniel Stevens, Ellen Reed, David White, Associate Member Chuck Tirone, Judith Hodges, Catherine Garnett, and William O’Rourke of the Commission. Tim Sullivan was not in attendance.
7:30 p.m. - COMMISSION BUSINESS
Ms. Beckwith will redistribute the drafted 6/7 minutes.
Mr. White presented the $136 plant bill for Stone Rd conservation land. Reed/White motioned to approve the payment of this bill from the Land Stewards fund; motion passed unanimously.
Mr. White asked the Commission to issue a letter of support for this year’s Open Space plan. Reed/Hodges motioned to support the Open Space plan; motion passed unanimously.
The Cookes Hollow project will need a new request for proposal scope. Ms. Reed suggested that RFP for the work at Menotomy Rocks Park be used as an example.
Mr.Tirone reported that someone has been dumping yard waste from one house on Ridge Hill.
Mr. White reviewed the schedule of edits for the Walking Book. Some leftover sections that were reassigned and the edits will be due at the end of August, 2007.
The Commission discussed the schedule of attending the table at Town Day on September 8.
Ms. Beckwith explained that she had the owners of 14 Lakeshore in to the office and told them to file an RDA for the retaining wall work. The Commission said to send a letter to them to restate the direction to file or an enforcement would follow.
Ms. Reed reported that the path project at Menotomy Rocks Park is almost complete. The Friends will plant a majority of the new plantings in the spring.
Mr. Tirone reported on his site walk to 71 Spy Pond Parkway. They are requesting a Certificate of Compliance for an old permit or enforcement regarding a tree. Mr. Tirone could not identify the tree, as it was not a common species.
