NStar Tree Pruning Halted While Standards Are Reviewed (posted 3/10/2011)
In response to unacceptable tree-trimming by NStar and their contractors in Arlington in the summer of 2010, the Town has advised NStar to halt tree-trimming work until they can show that appropriate standards will be followed. The concerns have yet to be addressed. If you observe tree-trimming to public trees that is not being performed by Arlington Public Works, you are asked to report it to Arlington Police at 781-643-1212.
You can read the full text of the Town Manager’s letters to NStar on this here.
Arlington currently has 18,000 public trees which are cared for by the Natural Resources Division. Below are some helpful links about Arlington's tree population and what to do if you suspect a Town tree is diseased or damaged, recommended trees for planting and other tree related information.
