The Mass Highway Department (MHD) is still on track with an August 2008 completion of primary roadway construction on Summer Street. Planting is slated for the fall. Here are the major work items that remain along with estimated completion dates.
1) Roadway Blacktop - final course/grade Summer Street August 8, 2008
2) Roadway Blacktop - final course/grade all side streets. August 15, 2008
3) Blacktopping of driveway connections August 22, 2008
4) Thermoplastic traffic lines August 29, 2008
5) Final Adjustment to traffic and pedestrian signals August 29, 2008
6) Yard Restoration, trees planted, lawns planted October 10, 2008
During this project the Arlington DPW, acting as ombudsman between Arlington residents and MHD, have resolved 65 issues. A handful of issues regarding pedestrian lights or traffic lights that shine in windows should be resolved in August.
