June 29, 2010 Update
The Brattle Street culvert work is 98% done. The gas company, National Grid, is now planning to renew the gas lines in the area (Brattle Street from Mass to Summer, Laurel St, Brattle Pl, and Washington St from Brattle up about 200').
The work is in response to issues that came to their attention during the March storms.
National Grid intends to start with Brattle Street, from Mass. Ave. to Washington and Laurel Streets. They will then work on Brattle St., from Washington to Summer, Brattle Place, and the 200' section of Washington St. The work will begin July 6th and last about 8 weeks.
National Grid will send project notices to abutters prior to the start of work. During this work, the road may need to be closed from time to time. Police will be on site at all times and make the decision if the road should be closed for public safety.
May 26, 2010 Update
The project has experienced additional delays. The contractor has provided an estimate of 1 more week before the roadway can be opened to traffic.
April 16, 2010 Update
Due to the historic rain storms in March, and subsequent road damage around Town, this project is behind schedule about 4-5 weeks. We are now looking at the second or third week in May for completion.
