RE: Brattle Street - Mill Brook Culvert Replacement
January 11, 2010
Dear Resident,
The Town of Arlington is moving forward with the reconstruction of the culvert on Brattle Street over the Mill Brook. Currently, it is expected that the work will begin during the first or second week of February 2010. Within the next few weeks, minor activities will take place, including the installation of erosion control and tree removal.
In order to perform the culvert replacement, the roadway will need to be closed to through traffic in the vicinity of the Mill Brook at Brattle Street. The closure will not occur until February 1, 2010 at the earliest. Access to all properties will be maintained via Dudley Street and Mass Ave. Detour signs will be placed prior to the road closure. A message board will be placed on Brattle Street announcing the closure of the road, approximately 1 week prior to the road closure.
The project is expected to continue for approximately 11 weeks during which time the road will remain closed to through traffic. Once the new culvert is constructed, a temporary roadway surface will be placed so the road can be re-opened. The Contractor will return in the spring to perform final paving and install landscape improvements.
If you have any questions now or during the course of the project, please call Pete Lento, Town of Arlington Engineering Dept., at 781-316-3323.
Sincerely,
Michael Rademacher, P.E.
Town Engineer
