Introduction
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation; Construction Division is currently managing the construction of the Forest Street Transportation Improvement Project. This work consists of roadwork and drainage improvements along a section of Forest St. from Huntington Road to the Winchester Town Line. During this project the contractor is also replacing and upgrading the 8” water main within the limits of the project.
Installation of the water main began on July 25th, 2011 including performing required test pits, installing the temporary by-pass water main and installing required water gate valves. Installation of the water main began at the Newland Road intersection. Due to the presence of ledge and the close proximity of a gas main, the work zone was moved to the Park Avenue intersection with work progress being made towards the Winchester Town Line.
