The Town of Arlington joins EPA New England’s Community Energy Challenge and commits to becoming an EPA Energy Star partner. The program challenges communities to save money and reduce air pollution by assessing their energy use, taking action to improve energy efficiency, and seeking out renewable energy alternatives. The EPA provides participating municipalities with free training and technical support of energy benchmarking software to assess performance and identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency through better facility management, upgrade to
lighting, HVAC controls, and other building systems and equipment.
The Town has agreed to the challenge and commits to the following:
• Assess the energy performance of all municipal buildings, schools and/or drinking water/wastewater treatment facilities in our community.
• Set a goal to reduce energy use in buildings by 10% or more.
• Promote energy efficiency and renewables to companies and organizations in our community.
As part of the goal to promote energy efficiency in Arlington, the Town is providing links to point residents to local energy providers that offer rebates and tax incentives on energy saving products and services. The links are below.
As the program gets off the ground, this new section will be updated with additional energy conservation resources and with Arlington's progress and achievements toward its commitment to becoming an Energy Star Partner.
For more information on the Community Energy Challenge please contact Domenic Lanzillotti in the Town Manager's Office at 781-316-3010 or via email.
