Town Manager Brian F. Sullivan presented the Fiscal Year 2009 budget proposal to the Board of Selectmen at their February 11 meeting. The FY2009 budget proposal reviews year four of Arlington’s 5-Year Plan.
“The 5-Year Plan is working” said Sullivan “but not without its challenges. Arlington’s ability to raise revenue is limited, the community is built out and state aid is virtually non-existent. Add rising costs for healthcare, energy, and operations and its clear Arlington has to keep a tight rein on expenses to maintain its commitment to the 5 Year Plan.”
Highlights of the budget presentation include priorities for FY2009, major changes in revenues and expenses, current and future challenges, and a five year budget projection. The presentation is available here.
