The Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) is a nationally administered student survey used to gauge health-risk behaviors that threaten the safety and well being of youth. AYHSC, in collaboration with the Arlington Public Schools, administers the YRBS biennially to Arlington students in grades 6-12. The survey has been demonstrated to be a valid and reliable measure of youth behavior, and its regular and widespread implementation allows for trend analyses, as well as comparisons of local data to state and national results.
The Arlington YRBS contains a number of questions that are not included in the original, nationally administered YRBS. Over the years, AYHSC and the Arlington Public Schools have made revisions to the survey, as topics became more or less relevant to the experiences of Arlington youth. As a result, there are several questions for which comparative data are not available.

As an addendum to the Arlington YRBS, students were asked to provide comments about the survey, note the specific topics that are most important to address, and which topics should be added to the survey. Separate analyses and summary reports were generated for the open-end responses.
