The Arlington Health Department has received H1N1 vaccine and will start vaccination
efforts with persons in the high priority groups set by the Centers for Disease Control.
The department is conducting the first H1N1 vaccination clinic at an elementary school
which was chosen based upon the current illness circulating, number of students and the
types of vaccines that have been received.
The Arlington Health Department is working closely with the Arlington Public School Department to run the vaccination efforts in the schools. The CDC vaccination priority groups include persons in the following categories: pregnant women, persons age 6 months to 24 years, persons age 25 to 64
years with chronic health conditions, caregivers of babies under 6 months and healthcare
workers and EMS. All persons in these groups will have access to a vaccination from the
Arlington Health Department, but the department will conduct outreach to each group.
The department will be receiving very small shipments of vaccine each week to start, and
will need to target specific groups within the population based upon the type of vaccine
that is received, number of doses and the rates of H1N1 illness in those populations. The
department will go into schools and daycares and will hold public clinics for priority
groups.
All clinic information will be posted on the town website as it is available
