Public in Attendance: Paul Mundis, Ana Calderon and Jessica Aucoin.
- The meeting minutes for August 11, 2010 and September 8, 2010 were approved.
- HEARING REQUEST: Paul Mundis, 63/65 Windsor Street
Inspector Waden provided an overview of the case to the Board. Waden explained that the Health Department had issued an order of emergency condemnation due to inhabitable and unsanitary conditions observed during an inspection. Owner, Mr. Paul L. Mundis was present and reported that he would be selling the house to a contractor. He explained to the Board that part of the agreement with the contractor was that the property would we broom swept. Therefore, Mr. Mundis requested that the Board allow him and his family to enter the property to remove personal belongings and discard other items. Mr. Mundis explained that he and his family work and therefore would need to get access to the house on the weekends. The Board determined access would be granted, but would have to be pre-arranged with the Arlington
Fire Department, who would have to be onsite during the cleanout. Waden agreed to work with the owner and fire department to work out the details.
Inspector Waden reported that the contracting company finished the cleanout of the inside of the house and made repairs to the both the top and bottom back porches. Waden stated that this office has been contacted by the contractor for the purpose of conducting a walk-through with him and the owner to identify what structural repairs will be required for re-occupancy.
Waden reported that two establishments have opened: CVS and Gemma. Current plan reviews include: Commella’s, Cakes Bakery/Café, and Little Mary’s Bagels. Waden discussed permit renewals, upcoming temporary food events, new allergen awareness regulations and a recent water main break that affected a number of establishments in the heights.
Waden reported on the number of active housing, lead and hoarding cases. Waden stated that referrals from police and fire for further follow up have been increasing over the past few months. In addition, Waden talked about the new Repair, Renovate and Painting Law (RRP) and the adoption of new abrasive blasting regulations.
- Public Health Nurse Updates:
Director Connolly reported that the Health Department has already given out over 2,100 flu vaccinations this year. In addition she reported that this year it has been much more difficult to get MRC’s to volunteer for flu clinics. Lastly, Connolly told the board that the number of TB cases has been increasing.
