Review July Minutes - Minutes accepted as amended

Town  Day Update - Christine Carney distributed a sign-up sheet with time slots  for those who are able to attend - discussion on table set up, handouts, etc. - ideas still welcomed - budget for Town Day expenses motioned and accepted for up to $500.

Incidents and Complaints - Bill Shea received a report from APD of an August 9th assault/hate incident at Buzzell Field bike path and Pleasant Street areas- copy of report will be given to all commissioners - this incident is a good example and reason to relate to the CFU group - suggestion of sending a letter to all on Rapid Response and Campaign For Understanding mailing list asking them to get the word out to all in their congregation or organization for discussion and awareness, and even for discussion in their home.  Vita Cohen and Christine Carney will take responsibility for letter and mailing for this incident.

Sub-Committee Reports -
Dialogues - Sub-committee meeting is being arranged by Nancy Sweeney for Wednesday, August 23rd at 7:00pm at Jefferson Cutter House for planning purposes.

At a recent meeting which Nancy attended she related a conversation with Supt. Levenson - there was casual mention of the graduation day incident with no answers given to any questions in this regard - Nancy Rhoads also spoke with Mr. Thrope at a school committee meeting.  He encouraged the AHRC to continue trying to bring these matters to the table - Bill Shea, Christine Deshler and Nick Minton will arrange to make an appointment the Superintendent and also invite Mr. Skidmore and him to one of our meetings.

Education - follow up on the Chip Berlet meeting:
Nancy Rhoads has written a proposal to Visions, Inc. for fall or early winter training sessions on diversity and multi-cultural awareness and suggested inviting all who came to the original Chip Berlet meeting at Town Hall to attend - details forthcoming

Other Business - Discussion of the Open Meeting Law Question will be continued until our next meeting.
