Sub-Committee Reports
Discussion continued on the “Every Day Hero Award”
- Christine Carney and Sheri Baron will work on that
Nancy Sweeney spoke of Ali Noorani, Executive Director of the Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition and recommended him as a good candidate for a forum - there was discussion regarding illegal immigrants in Massachusetts - Nancy will follow up with Jim Marzilli.
Bill Shea is following up with Michael Thompson to have him
conduct a bullying session at Ottoson Middle School
Vita Cohen and Bill Shea met with Janice Bakey and Anne LeCourt and brought Commission up to date regarding hate mail incident - suggested that the clergy in town be included in discussions so as to make their congregations aware of the problem and how distasteful it is - Vita will draft a letter and have meeting in May - the Commission voted to support Vita’s actions regarding this hate mail
Discussion and action to coordinate book event to be held March 9th
on Inge: A Girl’s Journey Through Nazi Europe
Other Business -
Anisha Desai has sent a letter of resignation to the Commission,
effective immediately
