Policy of Procedure
1. Applications for nomination can be obtained from the Executive Secretary of the Board of Selectmen. Applications will also be available on the Town website here.
2. Receipt of the applications properly completed, in sealed envelopes, presented personally to the Executive Secretary, must be recorded with name of sponsor by the Executive Secretary, said applications submitted unopened to the Committee by the Executive Secretary, or conveyed to the Committee by the Committee Secretary. Applications mailed to the Executive Secretary must be acknowledged in writing by the Executive Secretary.
3. It was generally agreed that four out of five members in attendance shall be considered a quorum. A majority vote is required for definitive action in respect to a given application.
4. Any applicant not meeting the criteria of any of the three awards shall be recommended for consideration by the Board of Selectmen as a recipient for the Good Citizen Award.
5. Approval of the given nomination shall be conveyed to the Board of Selectmen by letter containing the category of award suggested and a statement supporting the selections.
6. Any application having insufficient information concerning the nominee shall be returned to the sponsor by the Executive Secretary of the Board with a request for additional information.
7. A chronological log shall be maintained and incorporated in the records of the Committee of the applications for nomination and action taken by the Awards Committee and the Board of Selectmen.
