SUMMARY:Reaching Net Zero with a Clean and Resilient Electric Grid
DESCRIPTION:
To meet Massachusetts’ state climate goals, we must electrify large portions of our transportation system, our buildings, and our industries, and we must source that electricity from renewables such as solar and wind. Arlington’s own climate goals match the State’s, and the Town’s new Electrify Arlington campaign is supporting efforts to power our buildings and vehicles with clean electricity throughout our community. In order to achieve this future powered by renewable energy, state and regional partners must upgrade and modernize our grid. Additionally, climate change is already increasing the frequency and severity of storms, highlighting the importance of building a resilient grid. One way we can improve resiliency in a renewable future is by creating “microgrids” powered by clean energy that can still function during outages. Join the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC) for a presentation and discussion on the grid and microgrids to learn more about how our electric system works, how it needs to change, and what we can do to get there.

Register for this Zoom event at https://bit.ly/3CFaAX6

To learn about this and other events at the Robbins Library, visit https://www.robbinslibrary.org/event/reaching-net-zero-with-a-clean-and-resilient-electric-grid/
