Newly Renovated Lussiano Playground Opening October 1st

Post Date:09/29/2020

The Arlington Park and Recreation Commission is thrilled to report that the newly renovated Lussiano Playground at North Union will be open to the public as of October 1st. This project was successfully funded through the Community Preservation Act, State Grants Secured by State Representative Sean Garballey, and the Community Development Block Grant program.

The project was designed by Landscape Architect Ray Dunetz and the construction work was performed by Jam Construction Corporation out of Worcester, Mass.  Park Commissioner’s overseeing this capital project included Jen Rothenberg and Shirley Canniff. A special thank you to the entire community for their input on the project design and a special thank you to community representatives Phil Tedesco and Leah Broder for all of their input and hard work seeing this project through to completion.  Arlington Recreation would like to also thank the Department of Public Works for all of their assistance throughout the project with a special thank you to Operations Director Dan Warren, Natural Resources Supervisor Bryan Mount, and Tree Warden Tim Lecuivre.

Although the playground is fully operational we do ask for everyone’s compliance in staying off of the newly hydro seeded lawn areas until a solid turf base can be established. The Arlington Park and Recreation Department hopes everyone enjoys this wonderful new recreational facility!

The Lussiano Playground is located at North Union Park, next to the Thompson School. The address is 60 North Union Street, Arlington, MA 02474.
