February 6, 4PM Update
No Plans to Call a Snow Emergency/Parking Ban at This Time
Residents are encouraged to park off street to aid snow removal operations.
Current weather forecasts predict snow starting early Saturday. Public Works will begin snow and ice operations in the early morning hours of Saturday and continue well into the day. At this time, no snow emergency parking ban is anticipated. If conditions change the Town will send an update.
Residents are encouraged to park their vehicles off-street during snow and ice removal operations so Public Works can work more efficiently and with better results. These operations will be challenged by previous snow accumulations narrowing the streets.
If you must park in the street, please allow sufficient space for Public Works vehicles to pass safely. Parking in a manner that interferes with snow and ice removal operations may result in the vehicle being towed.
After a storm, residents and businesses are reminded to keep public walkways clear in accordance with Town bylaws. Failure to remove snow and ice from any sidewalks abutting your property can result in a fine of up to $50 per day. Moving snow into public ways, such as streets, is also prohibited and subject to fines of $25 per day.
Compliance with these bylaws is a key element in keeping the Town of Arlington a safe place in winter.
Take precautions to stay safe and warm.
As the forecasts also calls for continued extreme cold weather through the weekend, please take necessary precautions to prevent frostbite and hyperthermia, including remaining indoors and avoiding travel if possible; wearing layers, water-resistant boots, and a scarf over your mouth when outdoors. Failure to comply with these bylaws can result in a fine of $25 to $50 per day.
Secure Trash & Recycling at Curb
Trash, recycling, and yard waste containers should be on the curb and secured in a manner to prevent them from going into the roadway and impeding snow removal operations. Bylaws require that waste be placed for collection at the curb no earlier than 6:00 p.m. the evening before scheduled collection.
