Post Date:04/17/2022 6:00 AM

What is BioDiversity, and why are all levels of government programming and policy giving BioDiversity such attention?

Plants, animals, and the ecosystems they inhabit do so much work for humans: provide our food, clean our water and air, and even suck our carbon emissions out of the atmosphere.

Spend some time during EcoWeek learning more about what we can do in our yards an in our town to help promote healthy BioDiversity.

  • From April 20 to May 2 join our local effort in the City Nature Challenge and document plants and animals in your neighborhood. Download the free iNaturalist app, find a bug or a leaf or a flower, and take a picture. The iNaturalist app will lead you to contribute your photo to a database of millions of other photos that become a permanent record of what natural activity is happening in OUR area at THIS moment in time. This is citizen Science in action, and we hope to gather thousands of photos here in Arlington. More here
  • Curious about what your local and state government is doing t protect BioDiverity? Attend the Summit and hear about exciting initiatives. Tuesday, April 26, 7 PM, online. Register here
  • The invasives are coming, The invasives are coming! Learn which plants we definitely don't want growing in our yards and parks. But how to get rid of them? Learn from our ArMI of experts- local volunteers who know a lot and are committed to helping all of us learn new tricks to keep out the bad stuff, then plant more of the natives that our local biodiversity will thrive on!
