The Town of Arlington is pleased to welcome Republic Services as the Town's new recycling and trash contractor. Beginning today, June 2nd, Arlington residents may notice blue Republic trucks alongside JRM trucks, and many of their employees dressed in blue and yellow Republic uniforms. As Republic learns and adjust their routes collection, times during the day may vary, so be sure to have your items on the curb no later than 7:00 a.m. on your collection day.
Those are all the changes residents will notice. Trash routes, days of collection, and all the rules of the Town’s recycling/trash collection program remain the same. Even the contact information for reaching Republic Services to report missed collections or other issues remain: 1-800-323-4285 and customerservice@jrmhauling.com.
Republic Services is a publicly traded national recycling and waste hauler with contracts in 47 states, serving 14 million customers, and operating 71 recycling processing facilities. Municipal clients in Massachusetts include Watertown, Wakefield, Saugus, Malden, and Melrose.
On May 16, 2022, Republic Services acquired JRM Hauling and Recycling. Earlier that month, Arlington had signed a three-year contract with JRM Hauling with the understanding that this acquisition was planned. Mergers and acquisitions have been a pattern in the waste and recycling industry nationally.
Arlington DPW would like to thank JRM staff and management for their partnership and service over the past ten years.
