Election Update for Sept. 6 State Primary

Election workers needed, vote by mail, and mailing to inactive voters.

Post Date:07/20/2022 9:35 AM

We have two elections coming this fall:
State Primary, Tuesday, September 6
State Election, Tuesday, November 8

Election Workers Needed
The Town Clerk is accepting applications for election workers to work the Check-in table.  If you are interested, please complete the online application and you will be contacted about training over the summer. If you are interested in being a Warden or Clerk, you may apply and take the training. We currently have them scheduled in all precincts. Learn more and apply.

Vote by Mail Applications
The Secretary of the Commonwealth is preparing postcards that will be mailed this month to registered voters. The application allows voters to request a Vote by Mail ballot for either or both of the two elections remaining in 2022. Voters who are enrolled in a party will automatically be sent their party ballot. Voters who are unenrolled will need to specify on their application which party ballot they would like. If you submitted an application to the Town Clerk already, you will not receive a postcard.

Confirm your Voter Registration
You can confirm your voter registration especially if you recently moved or changed your registration. You are only eligible to vote in the community where you are currently registered. If your status reads “Inactive” see the next section.

Confirmation Mailing to Inactive Voters
The Town Clerk has mailed postcards to voters who did not return the census this year. Under state law, Town Clerks are required to flag voters who have not confirmed their current residence. These voters are considered inactive voters until we receive the confirmation postcard back or until the voter applies for a ballot in the mail (which confirms their current residence). Inactive voters can always vote but will be asked to complete a form and show proof of residence when they vote.
