During 2023 Activitas, Inc. was retained by the Town of Arlington to conduct an Athletic Court Needs Assessment, with a focus on basketball, pickleball, and tennis courts. The Athletic Court Needs Assessment will help the Town prioritize capital projects around athletic courts.  
 
During the Assessment, Activitas analyzed 19 outdoor Town-owned athletic courts relative to their community needs and renovation potential, and made recommendations based on site assessments, recreational trends, and input from the public. 
 
Of the 19 court facilities that Activitas reviewed, five were identified as priority locations for renovation and/or expansion, they include Crosby Park, Buzzell Field Park, North Union Park, Spy Pond Park, and Summer Street Park. 

The Athletic Court Needs Assessment provides a project summary, court system inventory and analytics, recommendations, and Town and public engagement details.

Project Background

The Park and Recreation Commission and the project's landscape architectural firm of Activitas are looking at all of Arlington’s athletic courts (tennis, basketball, pickleball, multi-court, etc.) for current conditions and future needs. The assessment will assist the Commission in making important decisions concerning future capital investments. 

Meetings

The Park and Recreation Commission held public input meetings with Activitas to solicit input for the Town of Arlington Athletic Courts Needs Assessment.
