Civic Academies are community engagement and educational opportunities conducted by municipalities across the country to encourage civic engagement and provide educational materials for the public on how Town government operates. In the fall of 2026 Arlington will conducting its seventh Civic Academy.
Participants will gain knowledge of how the Town works and the role they can play in town government.
Each course will provide an overview of government operations led by Town officials with discussion and/or a hands-on activity. The Civic Academy is geared to provide information to those who are interested in joining a Town committee or may want to run for Town Meeting or other elected office.

Requirements for Participation:
Must be a current resident of Arlington.
Must be 18 years of age or older.
All Arlington residents are welcome to apply, but preference will be given to those residents with less than 2 years of experience serving on a Town committee or in Town Meeting.

To be considered for the Fall 2026 cohort, please complete this application by Sunday, August 23rd. Arlington Civic Academy is limited to 20 participants.
