Arlington Town Manager, Jim Feeney appoints Christine Bongiorno to Deputy Town Manager-Operations position. The Deputy Town Manager-Operations assists the Town Manager in the operation of the Town.  

“I’m pleased to appoint Christine Bongiorno to this role serving Arlington,” said Feeney. “I’ve worked with her over the years and her innovative leadership and organizational skills, plus her commitment to public service make her the perfect fit for this role as we enter this new phase of leadership in Arlington.” 

Bongiorno has served the Town as Arlington’s Director of Health and Human Services (HHS) for nearly two decades and is well-positioned to move into this new role. As the Director of HHS, Bongiorno led a team of dedicated professionals working toward improving public health and meeting the human services needs of the community through the Health Department, Council on Aging, Veterans Services, Arlington Youth Counseling Center and the Diversity Equity and Inclusion Divisions. Through this role, Bongiorno led the team through two global pandemics, the building renovation and revisioning of the Arlington Senior Center, creation of the Youth Counseling Center’s sustainable model of service delivery and the creation of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Division to name a few.

Bongiorno has a background in environmental health, having obtained a Masters Degree in Public Health from Boston University School of Public Health. She has a Certificate of Public Leadership from the University of Virginia and plans to complete her Certificate of Organizational Leadership from Harvard Business School in October 2023.
