November 6, 2025 Update
The Town held several stakeholder meetings over the past year, involving community members, veterans, boards and commissions, and Town staff led by its consultant, Stantec and the Veterans Services Office of Health & Human Services. Through this collaborative process, Stantec was able to incorporate stakeholder feedback into the proposed design plans for the project, which are still being revised.
The Town is now working on securing funding for construction for the $2,063,376 project. At this time $400,000 has been approved from the Town’s capital funds, with another $700,000 requested. Other funding requests include $300,000 from Community Preservation Act funding and $100,000 from Community Development Block Grant. Other funding continues to be pursued, including a fundraising campaign, through the Arlington Health and Human Services Charitable Corporation. This funding source would go toward the construction and future maintenance, including keeping the memorial up-to-date.
