The Arlington Bicycle Advisory Committee (ABAC) is seeking two new Executive Committee Members to join and assist with the work of the Committee. The Committee is involved with a variety of bicycle-related activities, and its primary goal is to improve conditions for bicyclists in Arlington. Activities include working with Town staff on Minuteman Bikeway-related concerns; bicycling promotion and recreation including the Tour of Arlington; advising on bicycling issues and participating in related committees including the Transportation Advisory Committee; advocating for on-street bicycle facilities and bicycle parking; coordinating with regional partners such as the Tri-Town Bike Committee; and other items of interest to the Committee.
Membership on the Committee is open to all Arlington residents, but eligible candidates must take an active interest in Arlington bicycling issues. Strong consideration for the open positions will be given to residents who already participate on the Committee in non-voting roles. The Bicycle Advisory Committee typically meets on the third Wednesday of each month from 7:00-9:00pm. Meetings are mainly held remotely with several hybrid meetings throughout the year. Becoming an Executive Committee Member requires Select Board approval and individuals are appointed to the Committee for a three-year term.
Interested residents may email a letter of interest and a resume to John Alessi, Senior Transportation Planner with the Department of Planning & Community Development at
