ACAC Installs Art Murals Along Minuteman Bikeway

Artists transform concrete bridge posts into colorful public art

Post Date:08/01/2025 11:14 AM

This year, instead of painting utility boxes, the Arlington Commission for Arts and Culture directed their public art efforts to the beloved Minuteman Bikeway. As of July 2025, the Arlington Commission for Arts and Culture has completed the installation of murals along three bridges crossing the Minuteman Bikeway between Arlington Center and Arlington Heights. Commissioner Laurie Bogdan led the project, working with artists to transform the graffitied concrete bridge posts. The goal of the project was to bring a pop of color to the Minuteman Bikeway that would be enjoyed by all ages. On average the Bikeway is used by 1,250 people daily. The murals are presented by Arts Arlington and supported by the Arlington Bicycle Advisory Committee.

Arlington thanks the artists who helped us make the Bikeway more beautiful:

  • Kathy and Maria Lobo; Daily Commute, Forest Street Bridge
  • Renee Majkut; Peony Flowers, Ryder Street Bridge
  • Raksha Amrit Soni; Celebrate Nature, Movement and Community, Brattle Street Bridge (pictured below)
