Arlington’s Adult Recumbent Tricycle Rental program makes the Minuteman Bikeway more accessible to adult residents with disabilities, balance challenges, or other issues that make it difficult to use a conventional bike.
This pilot program is currently available on Wednesdays from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., for one-hour slots. The schedule may expand based on demand and feedback.
Rentals are free, but you must register at least one day in advance through the Arlington Recreation website. If you do not already have an account, please create a free account before registering. Before your rental, you must read the Trike Information & Safety Recommendations and complete the Trike Rental Release Form, both available on the registration website.
Rentals start at the Arlington Trike Shed, in the parking lot of the Ed Burns Arena. Staff or volunteers will welcome you at the Trike Shed and adjust the trike for your comfort, but please note that participants should be able to mount and dismount the trike independently. If not, it is suggested to bring a helper.
If you have questions about the program or the trikes, call Tim Ross, ADA Coordinator, at 781-316-3257.
The program was developed through a partnership among the Arlington Disability Commission, the Arlington Health & Human Services Department, and the Arlington Recreation Department, and made possible by a grant from the Massachusetts Office on Disability.
