Food Scrap Recycling at Farmers Market

Give it a try for free! Ongoing through October

Post Date:08/02/2016 12:39 PM

CM at FM 2016

We're expanding the number of households that can drop off food scraps at the Farmers Market each week. You'll be helping the environment (less waste going to the incinerator), your Town (less waste= less cost), and your garbage can (less smell!). If you want to reduce your trash but aren't sure about composting at home, or if you simply can't right now, then food scrap recycling might be for you! Bootstrap will accept your fruit and vegetable scraps, egg shells, bread products, even your used paper towels, just no meat, fats or dairy scraps. When you get your food scraps to the Farmers' Market, we will ask you to empty it into the Bootstrap buckets yourself (we'll have paper towels and a long spatula to help). We don't want any plastics included (specialized BioBags are okay). To find out more, visit the Composting in Arlington table near the Pleasant Street side of the Farmers Market every Wednesday this summer between 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM. More at Arlingtonma.gov/recycle
