Are you dependent on single use plastic bags? Here's how to be a responsible plastic bag user.
Recycle: Thin film, such as plastic bags, newspaper bags, bread bags and the like is never recyclable in our curbside recycle bins. However, we can take them back to the stores to recycle, here's how.
Reuse: Keeping bags clean and dry and ready for reuse the next time you go to the store is more manageable if you have a system in place.
Opt out: Pledge to reduce or even give up single use grocery bags, plastic and paper versions. If you make the commitment to yourself, then your habits will change. Help make the change by keeping durable reusable bags in your vehicle, and keep a small bag inside your backpack or handbag for those times when you're just grabbing a few items.
Every bit helps: The Earth Policy Institute reports that 100 billion plastic bags pass through the hands of U.S. consumers every year—almost one bag per person each day. Laid end-to-end, they could circle the equator 1,330 times.
