Stratton School is perched to become the SIXTH school in Arlington to have food scrap collection (for composting)in the cafeteria.
It's a bit of a road to get to this point, but cafeteria staff, custodial staff and parents are making it happen. Modeled on the wisdom gained by other town schools, the Stratton cafeteria, still shiny and new from renovations over the summer, is ready to shine on with this state-of-the-art waste reduction program. There's some learning ahead for kids and adults, but that's what we're here for, right? Good Luck, Stratton Community!
Is your school ready for food scrap collection? Contact School Sustainability Coordinator Rachel Oliveri to get started: roliveri@arlington.k12/ma.us

Staff and parent volunteers were set up and ready Friday at 11 AM for the lunch waste audit that will help measure
exactly what each category of "waste" weighs: compostable food scraps, recycling, liquids poured off, unopened food, and finally, trash.

Parents made this fabulous Stratton Pride COMPOST sign for the new program- way to show your enthusiasm, parents!
