June 8 Recycling Center OPEN
At DWP, 51 Grove Street, 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Recycle More Saturday, June 8 at the monthly Recycling Center, located at DPW, 51 Grove Street. Event begins at 9:00 AM and runs until 12:00 PM.
The Recycling Center offers one Saturday morning a month to drop-off hard-to-recycle materials, such as bulky rigid plastic (crates, broken barrels and outdoor furniture), foam packaging (the stiff kind that breaks when you bend it, such as coolers), electronic waste (some fees apply), re-chargable and button cell batteries, scrap metal, clothing & textiles, books & media, plus specialty items on occasion.
This event is free and open to all Arlington residents. We cannot accommodate residents from other communities. Please be prepared to show proof of your address when you sign in at the check-in table.
The Gibbs-Ottoson PTO is collecting your gently worn shoes for Funds2Orgs Shoe Drive and will be collecting shoes at the June 8 Recycling Center.
Shoes can be new or used, but must be in wearable, clean, good condition.
Any style, any age, any occasion or season. This even includes cleats and slippers!
Note that the following will NOT be accepted:
Single Shoes or mismatched pairs of shoes
Rollerblades / Roller Skates*
Wet / moldy shoes
Shoes with holes, tears, extremely worn or separated soles, etc.
Funds2Orgs will pick up the shoes and sell them at a low cost to micro-entrepreneurs (aka small business owners) in developing countries. Those micro-entrepreneurs will then resell the shoes in their communities for a profit. With this fundraiser you can clear the clutter in your closet, raise money for the PTO's enrichment efforts, AND support small business owners in developing countries at the same time -- it's a win-win!
