Arlington, Newton, Watertown, Somerville Lead Massachusetts Communities in Clean Energy

Local leaders gathered in Arlington on July 31st to celebrate Arlington, Newton, Watertown, and Somerville’s inclusion in a new Environment Massachusetts Research & Policy Center report on innovative clean energy programs at the municipal level. The report, Renewable Communities, features these four cities and towns alongside 18 other Massachusetts municipalities that are leading the way to 100% renewable energy. The report discusses renewable electricity, energy efficiency, clean transportation and heating, and energy storage programs, including Arlington’s newly-implemented designated bus lanes, Watertown’s ambitious rooftop solar ordinance, Newton Power Choice’s green municipal aggregation, and Somerville’s comprehensive climate plan.
