Post Date:11/07/2019 2:46 PM
The Arlington Department of Planning and Community Development (DPCD) is pleased to announce that Brian Nichols has joined the staff as the Community Development Program Manager. As the Community Development Program Manager, Brian will oversee the administration of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and the Menotomy Weatherization Program. The Town receives roughly $1 million annually in CDBG entitlement funds to support local community development activities, such as affordable housing and infrastructure, and to serve low- and moderate-income households and areas in town.  The Menotomy Weatherization Program supports low-income households to make energy efficiency improvements to their homes in Arlington and six of our neighboring communities through grants from utility companies and the Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development.

“We are excited to welcome Brian,” says Jennifer Raitt, Director of Planning and Community Development. “As the Community Development Program Manager, Brian will help Arlington assist lower income households in the community and region while also leveraging the funding Arlington receives to better serve the community.”

Mr. Nichols previously worked at Just-A-Start Corporation in Cambridge where he a CDBG-funded affordable Home Improvement Loan Program. Prior to working at Just-A-Start, he was the Grants and Portfolio Manager for Nuestra Comunidad Development Corporation where he directed portfolio management of the Corporation’s affordable housing lending program. Mr. Nichols has also provided grant management consulting services to regional non-profits.

“I am excited to have the opportunity to bring my community development-based knowledge and skill set to this opportunity. I look forward to working with my colleagues at DPCD and the residents of Arlington to create new possibilities,” says Mr. Nichols.
