Pumpkin Recycling at Schools a Huge Success
Many kids + many pumpkins = 8 tons of squash!
What happens to a pumpkin at the end of its useful life? Most of us know it has to go in our trash, but Arlington kids are learning about a higher use for this organic material.
Pumpkins of all shapes and sizes were lugged to each of our seven elementary schools, where they were piled to await the big truck that would cart them off to be composted.
All in all 8! tons of pumpkins were Rescued- Congratulations APS students and the Green Teams and PTOs that publicized the effort!
