2025 Fall Townwide Sweep Begins Nov 10

On Monday, November 10th, Arlington Public Works will be starting its town-wide street sweeping operations. Routes are generally swept in order, starting with the first route, however, routes may be skipped to accommodate existing conditions.

Sweeping takes place between the hours of 7AM-3PM. It generally takes 6-8 weeks to sweep the whole town.

To help Public Works perform the best possible job, park your cars off-street, when sweepers are in your area. Always keep trash/recycling containers on the curb.

Again this season Public Works will be providing a date range of when sweepers will be in your area. The date range allows sweepers to accommodate existing conditions and to clean more streets if conditions allow.

Weekly overnight sweeping of main roads will start the evening of Thursday, November 6th (see end of page for details).

Please note that according to Town Bylaw, Title III, Article 1, Section 33: Prohibition Against Obstructing Public Ways, it is forbidden to throw, or cause to be placed or thrown, onto any public sidewalk, street, fire hydrant, or highway and snow, dirt, leaves, gravel, or foreign substance or material. Violations of this section shall be punishable by a fine of $25.00 per day if the material is not removed.

The sweepers are generally in the neighborhood for 2 days and can come by your street several times, so don’t put your car back in the street right after they pass.

They may be off emptying the sweeper or the driver called in for another duty returning hours later or even the next day. As best you can, please park off street another day after you first see them in your neighborhood.

Planned routes for each day may be found in the first menu drop-down. These dates are subject to change due to weather, staffing, and equipment issues, thus the reason only a few days are scheduled. Updates are made on Friday afternoons for the following week. Please check back for updates.

Weekly, Overnight Sweeping of Main Roads

DPW crews have already begun weekly, overnight sweeping of main roads and will continue until the spring town-wide sweep has completed. This weekly operation is conducted early Friday mornings between the hours of 12:00 AM - 7:00 AM at the following locations.
