The Arlington Redevelopment Board is responsible for reviewing applications for a Special Permit under Environmental Design Review (EDR) and projects subject to Site Plan Review.
- See Section 3.4 of the Zoning Bylaw for projects that require a Special Permit under ARB jurisdiction.
- See Section 5.8 of the Zoning Bylaw for projects that require Site Plan Review (primarily those in the new Multi-Family Housing Overlay Districts, also known as the MBTA Communities Overlay District).
Applying for either a Special Permit or Site Plan Review requires attention to detail, planning, and research. View the appropriate application for step by step instructions.
Completed applications and fees must be received at least four weeks prior to the Redevelopment Board meeting at which the hearing will take place. SEE THE SCHEDULE OF UPCOMING MEETING DATES AND DEADLINES.

Submit applications in PDF format via email to cricker@town.arlington.ma.us and jenniferjs@town.arlington.ma.us. A check for the application fee (see the application for further information) must be brought to DPCD's office (on the first floor of the Town Hall Annex, to the rear of the main Town Hall building, accessed from the rearmost door facing Academy Street) or mailed to Arlington Redevelopment Board, c/o Department of Planning and Community Development, 730 Massachusetts Ave, Arlington, MA 02476. A confirmation of the application received and a receipt for fees paid will be emailed to the applicant. All applications will be filed with the Clerk’s Office and posted on the Town’s website. Abutters notices and Decision notices will be mailed.
