Annual Town Election March 28, 2026

Question 1 

Shall the Town of Arlington be allowed to assess an additional $14,800,000 in real estate and personal property taxes for the purposes of funding the operating budgets of the Town and the Public Schools for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2026?

Question 1 Explanation 

If approved by Arlington voters, the Proposition 2 ½ Override would permanently increase property taxes by $14,800,000 to pay the operating costs of the Town and School departments. 

Select Board Commitments

In Arlington, the Select Board votes to approve a set of commitments regarding the override. According to the Select Board Override Commitments, a successful override vote on March 28th would fund Town and School operations for at least three fiscal years (FY27-F29). A commitment to no Proposition 2 ½ override prior to Fiscal Year 2030. For an operating override, the tax increase is permanent.  View the Select Board Commitments.

Shall the Select Board of the town be authorized to issue 2 additional licenses for the sale of all alcoholic beverages not to be drunk on the premises?

Question 2 Explanation

If a majority of voters vote ‘Yes’ on the question, then the Select Board may issue two (2) additional licenses for the sale of all alcoholic beverages not to be drunk on the premises. The licenses shall be subject to Chapter 138 of the General Laws.

Examples might include liquor stores or specialty food shops.
